Cape Town Venue Information

Passport holders from more than 80 countries, including the USA, Canada, Japan and the European Union countries can visit South Africa without visas. For further information contact your local office of the diplomatic or consular representative of the South African Government. If you intend traveling to South Africa's neighboring countries and back into South Africa you are advised to apply for multiple entry visas. Tourists must satisfy immigration officers that they have the means to support themselves during their stay, and that they are in possession of return or onward air tickets.

A law has been passed stipulating that all visitors to South Africa are required to have a minimum of two blank pages in their passport to enable the entry visa to be issued. If there is insufficient space in the passport entry will be denied and the person is likely to be detained pending return to their country of origin.

Cape Town International is South Africa's second-largest airport, and a prime tourism gateway serving millions of visitors descending on the Mother City every year.
Traffic through the airport reflects this: over 60 000 aircraft ferrying over 6.7-million passengers in 2005. By 2015, 14-million passengers are expected to pass through Cape Town International.
The airport is world-class and was named Africa's leading airport in the 2008 World Airport Awards, with OR Tombo International (Johannesburg) coming in second, and Durban International coming in third.

V & A Waterfront

The V&A Waterfront is located within the breathtaking setting of a dynamic working harbour and includes over 450 stores, a wide selection of top quality restaurants, an aquarium, boat and helicopter charters, art and craft markets, a variety of leisure attractions as well as a choice of world-class conference and hotel facilities.

Table Mountain Cableway

The best views of Cape Town are from the top of Table Mountain. The Cableway takes you to the summit in under ten minutes whilst the rotating cable cars ensure that visitors enjoy a 360º view of Cape Town and Table Bay. Once on top visitors can stroll along 2km of pathways and enjoy magnificent views from over 12 viewing sites and decks.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is world-renowned for the beauty and diversity of the Cape flora it displays and for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.

Robben Island

Robben Island has become a symbol of the triumph of the human spirit, and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1999.

On 1 December 2001, Nelson Mandela officially opened the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront. A tour of the Robben Island Museum is a multifaceted journey which begins at the Gateway, where multi-media exhibitions, a restaurant, an auditorium, and a museum shop are housed. A Robben Island Museum tour includes a half-hour ferry trip, a guided tour of the Maximum Security Prison, interaction with an ex-political prisoner, and a bus tour of the historic buildings and the unique flora and fauna of the 575-hectare Island.

Constantia Vineyards

The Constantia Valley is truly Cape Town’s Vineyard.

The oldest wine-making region in the southern hemisphere, dating back to 1685, Constantia Valley is today the Cape’s most intimate wine route consisting of eight wine farms, each with their own distinctive heritage and premium wines. Enjoyed by Napoleon Bonaparte and royalty in the 18th century, Constantia Valley’s unique combination of terroir and climate produces some of the world’s finest wines that continue to this day to win accolades and international awards for consistently high standard and quality.

Cape Point

Situated within a National Park, Cape Point holds much in store for visitors to these shores from its rugged, rocky cliffs to the fynbos covered plains. A day of discovery will reward you with spectacular views, fine food, remarkable encounters with nature and history… and memories to treasure forever.

Cape of Good Hope

The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve forms part of the Cape Peninsula Park and is managed by the South African National Parks. The Nature Reserve is recognized globally for its extraordinary land formation, rich and diverse fauna and unique flora. Nowhere else in the world does an area of such spectacular beauty and such rich biodiversity exist almost within a metropolitan area - the thriving and cosmopolitan City of Cape Town.
